    Hello to you all,

Please give the present Gardeners'World team a break from all your moans and groans.

They are trying to cover every aspect of the subject and cater for all levels of viewer.

The main thing about these programmes are that you take something positive from each show and enjoy watching other ordinary humans transferring their knowledge for no charge.

The main creative and inspiration should come from your thinking on the task in hand, picking yourself up after making mistakes that we have all made.

My main moan is that there is not enough of these informative, design and gardening slots available for our guidance especially during these wet and dull days.

All the past and present gardeners' that have hosted these adorable shows have all been worth watching over my fifty years in the garden and each have given me little gems of inspiration.

So stop trying to pick favourites of the past and just concentrate on a broad base of future experts to enjoy and enlighten your thoughts.

Kind regards and mind to collect all these lovely leaves for next years nourishment.

    Manurescot.

    Here Here Manurescot,

I grew up with Percy thrower on Blue Peter, Geoff Hamilton on Gardeners World and, with the exception of a brief flirtation with gardening under Alan T, I have actually started gardening with some passion thanks to Toby and the team. I find his style entertaining and informative and seeing a bare plot become a beautiful, flower filled garden has inspired me to turn my own hand to doing something with my plot. Long may Toby be at Greenacre, inspiring and informing me to make an escape to my garden this weekend.

I know there is a lot of moaning on here but I don't honestly think people were mumping - unless I've missed something. smiley - sadface

Easy answer give us a half decent GW and you won't hear many moans and groans on here.
They have failed to do the basic thing right this year.

Well this is incredible. This is my first time on this message board. After being inspired by our latest team of GW Gardeners, I have been looking for more to read and came across this message board.

It’s awful and I am ashamed and shocked to see how pathetic my fellow gardeners have been. How can any of this be informative or positive to anyone who is starting an interest in gardening?

I have been watching GW for many years now and each new team has a different way and a different style of presenting. Our new team of young gardeners doesn’t just reach out to my older generation but more importantly is inspiring to our younger generation of gardeners. I think they are doing a great job. I just wander what would have been said on these type of message boards had they been available in Alan or Geoff's time.

Yes Alan was good in his time but so was the first computer. We have now moved on.

Keep up the good work Toby, Joe, Alice and Carol and keep those spades dug in. Let’s look forward and not look back.

"Yes Alan was good in his time but so was the first computer. We have now moved on."

So Alan, now he is a liitle older in no longer a good gardener?

Can only young and trendy people present gardening shows now? smiley - erm

At what age do you think we should stop listening to people? 50? 60? What should we do, just nod our heads at them, round them up and put them in a home?

This is not a matter of age, but quality.

    Why should we accept trash?

I also still feel that it is not the presenters themselves that are the problem but the media luvies producing the programme.

Stop trying to make a trendy and accessible to all programme. Just make a programme about gardening, PLEASE!

OUR is the big give-away another Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú sock puppet.
As for the 'gardening' they are pushing its lifestyle with no substance. A thirty minute fix for everything just does not cut the mustard.

As for old computers if you are using Vista you have defiantly gone back in the world!!!

Please reply because it will save you thinking up another name.

You're right of course. We should all be a bit like you, and love everything that's laid before us. It's good that you appear to have liked everything down the years, and I'm certain that even if you hadn't, you wouldn't have said anything for fear that it would have an adverse effect on anyone who is just starting out. This mature attitude would of course be of great benefit to the programme-makers, who wouldn't have to consider producing anything for the more discerning viewer, and could concentrate on continuing the 'dumbing' without this constant carping. Quality is so last century, and the sooner some of the people on this board understand this, the sooner we can get on with enjoying Toby and the gang for the foreseeable future.

SupaNative - just why are you ashamed and shocked - the posters on these boards who have expressed negative comments are (in the main) objecting to the same thing - a poorly formatted GW with presenters who do not seem comfortable in the role. I consider myself to be a 'newbie' at gardening but I much preferred the old GW format - perhaps Toby would have been more comfortable with that also. My head is spinning with the current shaky camera work / jumping around with little snippets of disjointed and badly presented topics cramming as much as possible into a 30 minute programme / a new garden which we have not had the opportunity to see take shape / and a main presenter who seems a nice bloke but uncomfortable in his shoes - it's not a case of 'looking back' but a case of expecting a quality programme to inspire gardeners of all ages and abilities - not much to ask really - and we have the right to express our views on the programme - positive or negative - otherwise how can the programme makers judge what is a success and what should be altered?

I've never ever used a 'smiley', Welshcol. In fact, I've just this moment spotted where they lurk on the page (and had a quick shifty). Anyway, I was hoping that I might get a mention on 'Points of View' if I do a quick 180 degree turn, and shower the programme with praise.

Some posters seem to be paranoid about any new posters, seeing the enemy under the bed!!!
Welcome, new posters, whatever your views. Here's hoping you stay on board and ignore the jibes.

I have tried to avoid joining in this (these) debates about the pros and cons of the new style GW. Sufficient is to say that I have not watched GW for a long time. I started watching Percy Thrower so that was some years ago. The new team of presenters has not reached out to the older generation, it has driven them away. I am at a loss as to how they can be said to inspire the new generation of gardeners.

What programme have you been watching. It certainly isn't Gardeners World. How can you say it's informative when all they do is bicker and try to out.joke each other.I used to watch G.W. every week but not since I found myself shouting at the T.V. during the 30 minute fix sections.
Carol Klein is the only one who seems to have any horticultural knowledge and she would be a good presenter if she would only stop giggling.
Please please please get rid of Joe Swift and ALys Fowler who are neither use nor ornament and get some new presenters for next season before the programme goes completely down the pan.

If you have been watching you would know the 30 minute fix isn't around anymore, msloveaduck.

I have never seen the presenters 'bicker'.

Personally, I feel Alys and Joe are good hosts - but remember my views may not be fact.

    And neither may yours.
