The Wartime Kitchen & Garden on Yesterday each afternoon this week at 5pm and 5.30pm. (Freeview 12)
Thanks a lot, Paul, for highlighting that. According to the Radio Times it's also on at 9pm.
Thanks, Paul. Such a wonderful series and one which GW could learn from.
And before I forget, OPEN GARDENS has returned to Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú2 at 1pm this week. I'm pretty sure they are repeats but beggars can't be choosers. I think for the first time since I've been watching it, a garden was actually turned down twice yesterday. I actually don't like the fake drama and the ominous back ground music - "Will she get accepted, won't she? What would it mean to you to not get accepted?" sort of thing, but I enjoy seeing some of the wonderful gardens.
Thanks Paul, I see my garden is being shown again on Thursday on Open Gardens. It helps bring in the visitors on our open days.
Hi Gerald, shall actually tape it this time to remind me of my visit.
Paul, thx for flagging up the waritme kitchen garden- I've really enjoyed it, as I did first time around. J.
Thanks Paul for pointing this out I must have missed this first time round.
Really enjoyed seeing the mole catching today
Thanks Paul I never noticed this programme first time around but it is really very interesting, isn't it?
Gerald
I did watch OPEN GARDENS on Thursday and was greatly impressed with your garden. If a garden deserved to get accepted first time, yours did. Two acres of heaven. I also liked your steep bank and the incredible planting made it magical. Perhaps you can find time to list some of the shrubs you planted so effectively (or your gardener did
For me though, I liked the second garden as I do like slightly overgrown jungly gardens. I seem to recall it was in Brighton.
What a real gem this programme was . Harry Dobson as the archetypal head gardener with gardening expertise and knowledge oozing out of every pore but not so self centered or a general "know it all" to be inflexible to new ideas and to accept the vagaries of a typical gardening season. Where is today's Harry? who did not care for presentation niceties just got his message across in a clear understandable way which was like a considerate uncle imparting his expertise and passing on his knowledge.
