Hi all
Due to a change in scheduling, the two remaining Gardeners’ World specials from last year will now be aired as follows
The Four Seasons Garden – 14th February, 11.30am on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú2
A Year at Greenacre – 21st February, 11.30am on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú2
Saima.
Thanks, Saima - I knew the programmes were like spring bulbs, just bursting to flower sometime soon.

But why on Sunday mornings?
Oh no!
The GW I really wanted to see 'A year at Greenacres' is on the same time as my first horse riding competetion.
Anyone know if the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú iPlayer has subtitles? Being partly deaf I can't follow programmes without subtitles.
iPlayer does have subtitles. Click the "S" on the bottom bar.
Thankyou GaryB007
I've never used the BBc iplayer so I'm glad to hear it has subtitles.
Just a reminder - GW special at 11.30 am today !!

What a very good programme it was today. The garden may not in all seasons be to everyones' taste but I thought it was stunning. The hard work and dedication that went into making sure it looked good during all the seasons was remarkable.
I enjoyed it too but I feel so starved of gardening on the TV that I would enjoy anything at the moment. Would have liked it to have been an hour long and at a slower pace.
An excellent programme which I've recorded. Mind you the money that couple spent on their garden. I really liked the tree bark, especially suitable for childrens play areas he said. I must look that up. I also liked the Scottish Snowdrops. One could easily say that if one throws money at a garden, it's bound to be good, but that couple had real flair. 10/10.

I admired the owners of the garden for their dedication and their blending of colour and form throughout the seasons. The garden wasn't to my taste though. I found it too regimented and not a garden I felt I could relax in.
I agree.
All lovely plants, like a tapestry I guess, but I wouldn't feel at ease in that garden at all, no real point of focus or rest.
What came over was how much fun the couple had together in the garden, that it was a real combined passion - nice to see!

I also thought it was stunning. I absolutely loved it. What a treat to see a 'GARDEN' - as opposed to an 'alotment'. A place full of beautiful plants, shrubs and flowers - and not a carrot in sight. I also wish the programme had been longer, but I will be playing the video over and over.
I thoroughly enjoyed the programme and loved the garden, but what a lot of hard work !! As neither of the pair were in the first flush of youth I wonder how much longer they are going to be able to continue to meet their own high standards. Personally, as I get older I would like to be able to enjoy sitting in the garden as well as working in it - well that's the plan anyway, we shall see Nan x
I am extremely annoyed that this was not better publicised. The first I knew of this was when i happened to tune in to Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú2 to find the last 30 seconds of the programme being shown.
Maybe it was highlighted in the Radio times, maybe not but i don't get the radio times, nor do a lot of people. It seems the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú just decided to broadcast the shows on a whim at an unusual time and day. These specials were supposed to be shown at the end of last year in the usual GW slot. Even delayed, using the normal GW slot would have made far more sense. That is assuming of course that they wanted people to watch it!
Now i am getting cynical!
Like Richard, I just happened to turn it on 5 minutes before the end. I might download it and watch the rest.
I thought how lucky the couple were, that they both liked that style of garden, it certainly isn't to everyone's taste.
Maybe one of them actually hates it but is keeping quiet for the sake of marital harmony.
I was surprised to find that it was on at 11.30 on a Sunday morning, uually a busy time in our house but I was lucky to tape it. It was the first that I had heard about it and many people will be dissappointed that they missed it.
I marvelled at the energy and enthusiasm of the couple, we are trying to find ways to make it easier to look after our garden.
Even though I couldn't commit to that amount of hard work the garden really did look a picture. A lovely program.

kath74, I stuck it out to the end and agree with you entirely.
Richard and Kath
I am surprised you were both surprised as it was mentioned well in advance on this message board. I then made a note of it on my wall calender so I would be sure not to miss it. I also go through Saturday's Daily Mail TV supplement and ring every programme through the week I don't want to miss, alternatively set the video recorder. I guess it all depends on just how important it is to you not to miss your favourite programmes. I've just cut down the changes of that happening to almost nil

Hi All, The Four Seasons special is showing again on Thursday on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú HD at 6.30pm.
I enjoyed the programme very much and although the garden itself wasn't to my taste, I admired the couple's enthusiasm and dedication. It was their garden and I will try to visit this summer as it may look better in the flesh, I think. I like to see more herbaceous perennials, but I thought the area near the gent's hideaway was the best.
PS, I do what Paul N does so as not to miss anything.

Paul N: Not everyone checks the message boards for programme information or uses a wall calendar as a TV planner. I tend to rely on the information given in my weekly TV magazine or Sky+ Planner. Neither gave me any warning that GW was on at such an unusual time.
Like I said, I have been checking the listings for friday nights and there has obviously been nothing gardening on at that time.
I have now seen the programme on Iplayer, and enjoyed it a lot. Garden not quite to my taste but it certainly does what it says on the tin. Plenty of colour and form all year around.
Enjoyed the GW special .. The Four Seasons Garden – 14th February, 11.30am on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú2... after eventually getting round to watch it!!. Where do they get their energy from?, thought they were doing well with the routine garden planning and work but when they had 12 cubic metres of bark delivered I thought Wow!!. I just hope their health, and backs , keep in good shape and they obviously get so much enjoyment out of their garden which is what its all about.
Only down side was the overdosed director/camera person who could not restrain themselves from the out of focus/ in focus, quick traversing panning shots etc etc which took over from the programme as a major distraction and verged on the nauseating at times, especially on a large screen. Why????????. Please dont do it.
"Not everyone checks the message boards for programme information or uses a wall calendar as a TV planner" then they miss out, don't they?
I watched the Special this morning but......Well I won't say what already has been done to death, only that I'm looking forward to Friday March 5th and the 'new' GW.
new- new gw? or just old new?
Thanks to the info on these boards I was able to record both programmes for later viewing. I thoroughly enjoyed the couple's garden and can only admire their energy, enthusiasm and commitment.
Their garden wasn't entirely to my taste - I can't grow azaleas anyway and loathe plasticky impatiens and begonias but I loved the way they contrasted form and foliage as well as flowers throughout the year.
This morning's recap on Greenacres was much less enjoyable but then I really do dislike Toby's presneting voice and manner.
Let's hope New GW is just that and not just same old without the 30 minute challenge and the not hot board.

I’ve managed to catch up with this programme about a beautifully maintained garden but it’s not to my taste. The garden was very uptight, the inevitable result of control freakery and looked like the horticultural equivalent of flock wallpaper. The colours jarred my senses and there was no lightness of touch or flow. How much better it would have been to have allowed at least one or two of the Acers and conifers to flourish and to have seen more vertical emphasis to break up the plot instead of a sea of mounds. This was not a relaxing garden but it has clearly given pleasure to its owners and their dedication made for an interesting programme.
Yes, I too felt sorry for those acers. I like mine to grow freely - when they don't get pruned back or even killed by frost bite!
But why on Sunday mornings?Â
So we've been lulled into uncritical acceptance of whatever dross the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú sees fit to serve up after Andrew Marr.

Afternoon everyone,
Just caught the latest Sunday morning offering updating us on the past year at Greenacres - plenty of planting and I liked the twilight garden scheme but, to me, the whole thing looks staged and not like a 'real' garden at all (it reminded me of the plot at our local College offering Horticultural courses) - and poor Toby still doesn't appeal to me - when he said he was looking forward to the next year of GW I actually felt my heart sink......but I will watch it to start with and try to be open minded and give it a chance.....
Me too. Don't like his voice, his tone or his slapdash way with plants, projects and colleagues.
However, GW remains the only regular weekly offering on national TV so I shall record it in the hope of some interesting information, visits, guests and projects along with more measured presentation, screen info on plant names and decently focussed camera work.
"However, GW remains the only regular weekly offering on national TV".
Please tell me you have seen the beechgrove gardening prog? its on weekly. Alright its on BBc scotland starts again 31st march. I would like to think it will be on iplayer. if not go to web page
Please tell me you have seen the Beechgrove Gardening prog?Â
I like you cannot wait to get BG back on air and to me is the nearly perfect gardening programme to which GW could aspire to. The only problem is that the timings tend to be about four weeks behind us South of the border so there has be a bit of second guessing but is not a major distraction from a great programme.
Yes I've seen and very much like BG but it is, unfortunately, regional for those who do not have satellite TV.
"Landscape Man" is coming from Channel 4 soon apparently. Matthew Wilson helps 6 couples/families create gardens from scratch, two with mega bucks to spend, one with nothing and three in between.
It sounds interesting and I've just pre-ordered the book too on Amazon for a bargan £10 (I hope it and the programme aren't stinkers, or that will be £10 down the drain!)
Unfortunately, I can't find any information about when exactly it starts.
Welcome to the new Gardening Board. If this is your first time, then make sure you check out the
