Highlighting an interesting article on page 13 of today's Sunday Times (4 July) about the new RHS chief who has urged the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú to stop talking down to Britain's 12 million gardeners and to improve the quality of its gardening input.

Well worth the read, which follows the sentiments of many Message Boarders.

Can't send the link because it goes against the grain to subscribe on-line to the paper but if anyone else does perhaps they could oblige.

In the last sentence the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú "absolutely refutes any suggestion that their coverage of gardening is in any way 'dumbing down'". Hmmmm...

If think the new RHS President could be a lady after our own hearts.

    Pete

Totally agree with this.I actually posted on the main television board about its coverage of the Chelsea Flower Show, in particular the time spent looking at photos of people. One of the photographers was very good who was putting together a collage to capture the essence of the event, but the other lady photographer, daughter of Linda and Paul McCartney, simply took the equivalent of holiday snaps of people. I don't watch the Chelsea Flower Show for this. It seems to me that they only ever want human interest these days and that they shy away from trying to educate about horticulture.
