Hi all,
There was a plant on tonight's show that my partner really liked. It appeared a few times when the presenters were discussing other plants. The plants had long single stems with a big bulb of pinhead flowers or similar at the top. It looked as though the flowers or pinheads were just starting to turn purple.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
I think you were looking at an Allium that had almost finished flowering.
Had to switch over soon after the programme began... the cheesy music, the effervescent Monty, the Chelsea chop... that was enough for me I'm sorry to say.
Yes an Allium just finishing. They are bulbs, planted in the autumn.
Lots to choose from- some tall & others much smaller. Different size flower heads too.
Try googling them or the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú gardening plantfinder. The bulbs will be on sale in GCs late summer/early Autumn. Unlike some tulips they do flower well in following years. J.
Thanks for your help guys. Trust my partner to like something that's almost finished flowering!! I'll be sure to pick some up in the autumn.

A few years ago I was digging my small bit of garden and came across a load of bulbs "Hmm" I said "they smell of onions they must be some kind of weed I will throw them away" I did and instead of getting rid of this tall thistle weed I had dumped all my Alliums instead.
