Has anyone been on a cruise around U.K. There is one featured in Gardeners world Magazine which I wondered about. alan Titchmarch gives a talk 1st night.
I am worried about going ashore in a tender as I am not too sure about getting on to it. I wld be interested to hear if any of you have done this.

I have seen some quite elderly people hop on and off tenders. They crew normally hold your hand if they are concerned about conditions.
The worst case scenario is that they don't stop at that port if the conditions are appalling.
What time of year are you going?
    I am quite envious.

I was only considering the cruise and it wld depend on whether my sister wld go with me. I can' t get my husband interested. It leaves Southampton in August and I am undecided. I am not a sailor and am wondering if I shld look at a train journey and visit ome famous gardens. It was that the cruise had organised visits to Mount Usher, Bodnant and Beth Chatto's gardens. I will make up my mind by the weekend.
By the way anyone interested in the pigeon saga, they dont appear to visit us as much so it looks as if there may be some deterrant in the gel.Only the brave ones swoop down.

    Hi EH,

I have cruised before and also been tendered ashore. It`s a well established process and they should be able to accomodate you whatever your circumstances.
It`s a great way to travel and I love it. I say go for it !

    Quite envious smiley - smiley

I am pleased that you are having some success with the pigeons.

I would suggest that a cruise will give a whistle stop tour of each garden, allowing for disembarkation of the ship, transfers etc. If you organise your own tour then you allocate the time you spend at each garden. Only you can decide how much effort you want to spend organising yourself.

I looked at the description of the cruise, AT hosts the first evening, no mention of talk.

If I had the pennies, I would be going smiley - sadface
