No GW again next week - not good enough!
GQT team were doing a nationwide tour and that has been cancelled!!
Are the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú gradually pulling out of gardening completely??
We need more regular programmes, not less!
Btw - I thought this week's GW was ok.
I wonder if Carol Klein's proposed series about revamping her garden will go ahead?

GQT Live was cancelled because of poor ticket sales, hardly surprising with the high cost of tickets at the intended venue near us. Weeks without GW is not a new phenomenon; it's been happening ever since Gardening Club filled the slot and that was a long time ago.

I find it really annoying that the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú cut the gardening prog at the drop of a hat for the likes of scrum 5.
There are surely more gardeners who pay the licence fee than rugby fans. We have a Welsh Language Channel that nobody watches , that costs a £100 million a year, Rugby could go on that, but sometimes they do put it on both S4C and Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú2 at the same time with English/ Welsh commentaries . I suppose it gives jobs for presenters.
And I have heard it said that quite a few at the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Wales have heads shaped like rugby balls !!!!!

I've worked until the light went in the garden, as busy as I was at Easter. Daft to have no GW at this time of year when it's all about taking cuttings, dividing, bulbs, bare-root trees going in etc, yet they transmit it at the height of summer when peeps are chillaxing in their garden.

Where do the schedulers/planners get their logic from ? and more importantly where is the service to the viewers?.

Just wait until next year.....no GWs for most of the summer (I suspect) and I for one won't miss it!

Perhaps that's what MD meant by his recent 'I don't know about next year' remark.

Although I've not found this series the most informative, I do get annoyed when the beeb replaces it with other programmes. Why can we not have both and move the sports or whatever into another slot. Why are gardeners so far down on the scale that they can do this whenever they have a mind to.
I wonder if we will have a bit of coverage of the Malvern autumn show.

It’s not just gardening though is it? seems that the powers that be at the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú and ITV are more interested in sport than anything else. Now I am not a fan of soaps but I cant get my head round why the would take coronation street or eastenders off and replace it with a poxy football match featuring 2 teams from some unpronounceable place in eastern Europe.

Viewing figures for the soaps about 15 million. Viewing figures for the football about 2 million.

    Yeah makes sense doesn’t it!

    Don smiley - ok

Off again until March - just at the START of the gardening year, when preparation is paramount, plans for the garden are carried out without the hindrance of burgeoning growth, and muscles are kept in tone by winter jobs.
From this time of the year until the Spring is when all the hard work is done to make our gardens look so good in the summer.
March is when it is all over and prepared - on GW this happens by magic of course whilst the programme is off. Sigh.

GW certainly finished with a bit of damp squib. Endless shots of Monty pushing his barrow don't make a programme!

Nonsense. Another enjoyable programme and other than a Christmas special, nothing now until next year. Many of us will miss GW (so there!)

Programme was ok, but it's not been a vintage series - and it has been messed about so much for other things that it won't really be missed smiley - sadface

it would be good to have a fortnightly or monthly programme through this part of the year

    ?
Too late for this year i suppose, but it's a gap waiting to be filled.

    In 2012, I hope the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú -

    - Invites Jim McColl down to have a wee blether with Monty about Long Meadow
    - Have one major garden development, rather than just popping plants into the borders
    - Only have two presenters per programme
    - Do a fact sheet for each programme to download
    - Keep the programme available on iPlayer even during the tedious Olympics!!
    - Cater for the more experienced gardener - leave the noddy stuff to AT on ITV
    - Ease up on the veggie growing
    - Get in a proper garden designer!
    - Have more 60 minute programmes
