With Terry Walton the Radio2 Allotment gardener being the most watched gardening video on social websites I would like to see the return of Allotment life on 2012 on GW. It may have skipped your notice but allotments have never been so popular with the cost of living so high growing your own fruit & veg is what I want. Enough of advertising places to visit around the country, we have had two years of Carol sowing seeds & now Pam Ayres at Christmas!!!!! Please GW I want something different next year.
Joe's allotment is no more-he gave it up- it is a dead allotment
I am not defending the GW format but it must be hard to satisfy everybody's wants in a 30minute programme every week-you have to realise that is not aimed at experienced or inexperienced gardeners it is one size fits all programme
We could all say-and it has been said hundreds of times before on here-what we would like to see but we as viewers are in the hands of the programme makers and as we speak the formats and projects for next year have already probably been decided.
Who knows we could all be really happy bunnies next year-with nothing to moan about-somehow I doubt it
Certainly don't want Joe back on allotment or growing veggies on TV. he has everything to learn and nothing to teach.
I don't see why we can't have a programme dedicated to allotment growing though and Terry would be a prime candidate - years of experience growing stuff and an engaging personality. They could also revisit the allotmenteers featured on the Big Dig which was a good idea badly executed and with a hopeless non gardening presenter.
I would agree, there must be a group of allotmenters out there who would be willing to share their weekly tasks and advice. There must be an empty slot on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú4 they could use then they could avoid the sport clashes.
I would like to see a mix of new plot, old school and someone who has done a couple of years and can remember their mistakes.
It would be great if the presenter had a horticultural background.
My vote for presenters would be Cleve West and/or Terry Walton. They've both had allotments for years and have a wealth of experience to pass on. Several years ago I went to a talk Cleve West gave about his allotment and Terry Walton has made several visits to a local garden centre to talk about his allotment and veg growing in general. They are both interesting, informative and entertaining speakers and would be great presenters.
maybe gw should get Mel to do the allotment segment.
Mel being best selling garden author over 2 million books sold.
Who is Mel???
Smith?? Geidroch?? B?? C?? on??????? we should be told!!
Mel Bartholomew based in USA apparently well known there, not sure he would do the commute.
I would go with Cleve West or someone completely new
I could definitely cope with Cleve West. He's a good gardener and an excellent designer and he has his own allotment so know what kinds of problems and successes ordinary gardening mortals have.
We don't need any more Americanism thrust down our throats by the media!! Cleve West would be good
Mel Barholomew - known once for his Gridgardenening technique.
I think Cleve west would be a choice

I agree d'ont bring back Joe Swift ever, Diamond beds!! was he doing a Damien Hurst?
A programe dedicacted to allotments presented by a thoughtful experianced allotment gardener who understands why allotments were set up. What a great idea still we can dream. My local authority thinks its a leasure activity? Gardening takes work and time. Out of interest has anyone got a picture of what Joes allotment looks like now?
