Thought last nights programme was superb,I have even watched it again Carol actually met the real world with the answering of the lady's questions on seed growing.
Lots of advice and tips from Monty plus he got soaked again and that's without the help from the pond..Just love his potting shed.
Weak piont for me was Rachel sorry but she came across as a fish out of water and parts where a bit cringy.
The wild flower sowing garden (field of dreams)visitwas a joy.
For me 9/10 one of my favourite episodes ever.
PPP...Just loved it.
I loved it as well - but found it a sign of the depression that has settled on us all about these message boards that no-one bothered to even criticise, never mind praise shortly afterwards.
They - whovever they are- don't seem to realise they had cheap feedback on every aspect of the programme right here!

I also loved it - except for the Rachel part. I can never get into community gardening items on GW or Beechgrove.
Good programme last night, except for the community bit which I found rather boring.
Best one of the series so far! Carol was inspirational as always. I've been sowing seeds successfully for donkey's years, but I still felt I'd learned something new.
Field of Dreams - fantastic!! Rachel's bit was the low point.
It's amazing what a difference those extra ten minutes can make when there's no Joe to be fitted in.
Like others, I thoroughly enjoyed the programme - with the exception of the 'Rachel' bit. In moments of weakness, I can almost understand why gardening programmes do the 'community' bit, but it does make for dire TV - especially with RdT at the helm. Nevertheless, GW is once again a programme to be looked forward to on a Friday night.

Yes, I agree.
It has taken many years to get to a PERFECT episode (there are 21 being broadcast in 2012, by the way).
The balance was informative, entertaining and creative, and with glorious camerawork focusing on the details it was a joy to watch.
This should be standard for future episodes.
Yes, GW is getting to the point where it is worth watching, and has useful items, even to 'old hands' like me. Re sweet peas. I have found that if the pinchings are saved and dibbed into a pot of compost, some of them will root and so one can have even more sweet peas.
I also enjoyed the latest programme and have long been a devotee of Carol Klein's methods.
However, I was surprised that, in her spot on seed sowing, she never mentioned that some seeds require a period of stratification in order to germinate. This was very surprising, especially as she showed the lovely Trillium that she had grown from seed. Trillium require a double period of cold, each of approximately 13 weeks, for germination to take place (a fact backed up by the holder of the National Trillium Collection).
Failure to mention this fact could lead some gardeners to experience an unexplained disapointment with their sowings.
Hello,
I agree so much better without Joe and his sketch pad.
Wasn't interested in Rachels part really. The rest I enjoyed.
Hello Yakram.
Now that is really interesting advice re the sweetpeas, not heard of that before but will definatley give it a go.
More sweetpeas, great
Thanks
Nice to read positive feedback, I try to watch most episodes and have always found something of interest.
I wasn't so sure about the sweetpea trial though, my sweet pea sown in October are huge and itching to be planted out. Stuff sown in Feb/March have all perished
