The seed leaves are fine, but the new leaves are coming through or changing to yellow.
I germinated them in little peat/coil pellet pots in propagator. Then put those into small 2.5" 6cm little pots with JI no. 1 compost, probably 2-3 weeks ago maybe.
I wasn't going to move them into the next size pot with JI no. 2 until I saw some signs of roots at the bottom of the small pots. They're still really tiny between 2-4cm tall & only have 2 true leaves & another tiny pair coming out now. The tomatoes are way bigger & have already been potted on, I do seem to remember that being the case in previous years though.
They're on a south facing windowsill that gets sun afternoon & evening, with foil behind. The house is unheated but so is my greenhouse so I haven't liked to put them in their yet, as we're getting very cold nights even down south!
It seems too early to feed them? I've never had this problem before, maybe JI isn't right for them.
Help!

You might like to look at the thread that is running about tomato seedlings, suspect cold at night as has been said there - have a look and see if anything there is of use to you.
Thread is called 'dying tomato seedlings, advice please'

Yes I actually posted on that other thread, suggesting cold.
These chilli & pepper ones are actually in the house though, so not too cold really.
Hoping someone will know what else it could be...

hello, it is caused by a lack of nitrogen and magnesium in the soil usually caused by excess water.Only water when absolutely nessasary. if you over water nutrients are being leeched from the soil itself. Aparently using epsom salts 3tbs to a gallon of water using as a foliar spray can remedy it, I read that in a magazine hope this helps joanne

That's good, it sounds fixable then. Thanks!
With hindsight I have watered them more than in other years, as JInnes looks dry on top so quick. It probably doesn't hold onto nutrients well as it's so gritty either.
I don't have Epsom Salts in, until I get chance to buy some I'm wondering if potting them on into JI no.2 at this stage would help, or a very dilute tomato feed?

Am I likely to get Epsom salts in Tesco?

I'm not sure where to buy epsom salts from you could google it. It's never happened to mine so never had to try it it does sound good remedy though

I've got them! Tesco pharmacy counter.
Now I shall try to scale down the quantities for about 15 tiny seedlings & then give it a go.
Thanks for the idea anyway.

Well I was away at the w/e & they don't look much different now. No worse though either.
So maybe I will give them another dose & also pot them on in new soil.
Will report back.

Remarkable improvement!
Nearly all of their leaves are far more healthy dark green looking & far less yellow. A few are still yellowish so I will give a second very mild dose to those.
As they're still tiny I haven't re-potted them yet, so it can only be the Epsom Salts.
So huge thanks to Joanne!
