I'm just wondering if anyone is having a problem raising carrot seeds at the moment. My Autumn King have done absolutely nothing. I thought it was me at first but one of my allotment neighbours has the same problem as does my daughter who grows hers at home, and they too are trying the same variety. We have all sown from new seed packets, but not the same supplier.
Mine have taken what seems like an age to germinate, however over the last 24 hours, they have start to come through Be patient, we had some very cold nights last week.
Iam growing 4 types and none come out yet, some in pots brought in at night, 2 in ground with fleece over and 1 in large tub but none have shown any sign yet. I keep being told to be patient and stop looking every day.
But some of my veg very slow to germinate this yr.
good luck

Mine took absolutely ages to germinate, and I had all but given up on them. But they are showing now, and putting on good growth.
I've planted them in a container. And I used a cell tray to depress the compost slightly, and then planted the seed individually in each depression. (It took ages: ooh, me poor back!)
But they are well spaced out, so I hope to minimise thinning out and, in a container, to deter the dreaded carrot root fly.
Last year was a disaster, but I have high hopes now!

I planted my first lot of seeds at the start of the month. After 2 weeks my carrots have started to come through.
I recieved my dig in seeds over the weekend and have since planted those carrots too.
It is a matter of being patient tho. I was out every day moaning that nothing was happening. However, now I have lots to watch grow.
Thanks to everyone for your replies. I took another look today and it seems like they may be appearing after all but it's taken 4 weeks.
Question: What do carrot seedlings look like??
Think I may have a few popping up but not sure. Some weeds are already rearing their little heads. Are the carrots tiny seedlings with little skinny leaves?
