I have a dwarf apple tree, don't know what variety, it has never produced flowers, so never had any apples from it, last year on advice from a garden centre I fed it every month with blood fish and bone, but so far no flowers. It is about 4 years old, I did prune it in August as it had developed 2 main leaders, the main leader is about 5ft tall now and has never been pruned, should I prune it, the other branches are about a foot long, only one quite low down has branches that look like fruiting spurs the rest just have short shoots on them. My neighbour does have a plum tree too that has never flowered, I know apples need another apple tree sometimes to produce flowers, any ideas how to get it to flower? It is very healthy looking, but I am losing patience with it.
Update, not blood fish and bone used, sulphate of potash!
