I'm sure it's still to early but just couldn't wait any longer. There was a bit of this and a bit of this today when I got in from work.
Only planted out a few tender plants with lots in reserve. Good news is the 3 pepper plants are looking good in their clotches and pots and a tomarto plant the same. Spinach, chives and parsley all lasted the night in the open air.
Can't say the same for the tomartoes in the plastic GH, the ones which have been in and out of the house for the past two weeks have frost damage, also left 3 tiny toms (like 2inch tall) in there last night and they are fine, I'm struggling to work that one out. How come they didn't get frost damage but the others did.
Anyone eles taken the plunge against all advise...

Yep, I did. I planted out 2 courgette plants, 2 butternut squash plants, 6 cabbage plants, 3 dwarf French beans and 3 runner bean plants yesterday, and 6 Iron Man Calabrese plants and 3 nasturtiums (companion plants) today.
The courgette and bean plants were clawing at the greenhouse doors, so as soon as the weather forecast said the cold snap was over, out they went!
I have plenty of plants in reserve so not too worried if they don't make it, but everything survived overnight.
Oh, and I potted on 18 petunia sufinia and 12 fushia plants today too and built two eight foot obelisks for the remaining beans, peas and nasturtiums I've got growing... just in case six calabrese plants didn't seem like much!!
I'm just loving this gardening mallarky!!

I planted out 1 cucumber plant last week and it had keeled over this morning. It looked so well mid week. The other 2 are staying put in the plastic greenhouse.

Knowing that my husband was to have an operation on his arm 3 weeks ago he planted as much as he could prior to that. We know it was a risk but.....went round the lottie today to find the frost has wiped out most of the plot.Loads of sunflowers, potatos, sweetcorn and babycorn, beetroot, cauliflower, runner beans, salad crops and marigolds, grown round the edge of the raised beds. Absolutely heartbroken, back to square one, and his arm isnt even good enough to work with yet.

Sorry to hear that Daisy, can you do any begging or swopping on your lottie?
Link to this forum: Anyone else taken the plunge and started planting out tenders...
Daisy, which part of the country are you in? I was thinking about planting out some things this wekend out of sheer desperation, but having lost stuff inside the greenhouse, I am pretty sure I won't after all! We are in the East Midlands, not far from Nottingham.

No mde the others are in the same position, there are only 5 plots in our little haven, all surrounded by gardens. Usually its sheltered and several degrees warmer than the surrounding streets.
btoo I am in sunny North Surrey! one of the other plot holders has been there for 40ish years and said it is the only time he has seen the degree of frost that he saw Tuesday morning, looked like it had been snowing.
Oh well us gardeners are a hardy lot, back to the seed packets, or rather I think we may buy some plants from the GC as we will be too far behind. Especially as summer seems to finish now end of August!

I planted out first lot of runner beans and dwarf french beans yesterday, also left out a tray of petunias and a tray of lobelias - did cover everything with fleece overnight though. Nan x

It will be another two or three weeks before I plant out any half hardy stuff. I can't see the point of being too hasty in planting out and losing the lot due to impatience!
I have invested too much time & money into my stuff to lose it this way.( I have over two thousand plants of one sort or another)
In fact next week I will take the risk and start planting out my hardy stuff.

I planted out some lettuce, sprouts, cabbage all of them have been severely nipped but are hanging on same as petunia's, trailing fuchsia, lobbelia and some New Guinea bizzy lizzie, salvia and sunflowers, they were overspill from the gh as it's teaming with them all so I hardened a few off or tried to, put them in the ground and the frost got them Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday I had to try, lost some beets as well so have just set more away grrrrrrr.

I planted out some sweetcorn about a month ago, they were a present and not having grown them before i did not know it was to early. They have not grown much but look ok! Also i have broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage that is looking healthy.I am in the west midlands.

I haven't risked sweet corn yet that's one of my biggest crops, wouldn't want to lose any, nor have the chillies gone out overnight.
Courgettes have gone out in the alloment behind my house but each time I bring mine outside the leaves go very pale. May sow some more of those and start again.
So sorry to read your experience Daisy. I once broke my leg and was house/garden bound for 8 weeks, couldn't do a great deal but at least had use of my hands. GC sounds a good option for seedlings and some of the DIY stores do good deals on seedlings, well worth a look.

I'm all ears Fulman sounds so unfortunate and ever so interesting, pray share...
Link to this forum: Anyone else taken the plunge and started planting out tenders...
Oh Fulman, that really does sound nasty - gardening has to be the way for for you, gentle build up of muscles mass and so on. Hope it contnues to go well.
Have been putting tenders outside by day but very few at night, a few sweet peas which were outfrowing their pots, some verbenas ditto - there are back ups should they not survive. Baskets come outside by day, back in at night - think I'll be building up my muscle mass, not that I actually ever had any to start with!
Even hardier things like chives are not happy, they are not dead but are not bulking up and getting on with it as they usually are by now. I see the forecast is somewhat wet but not dreadfully cold next week - we will see.

Thank you fulman it is healing well. Your problem sounds awful, wonderful things can be done now cant they. Hope you are soon bi-armed, does that sound right, you know what I mean.
