I left bit of solid mesh I had propped up over the other end by the runner beans and shallots thinking a fox would never go right inside the tunnel to do anything.
Once a stuff is established they don't often bother, but it did just that.
It came in past the bean sticks trampled and dug up some of my shallots and then trampled all the way to the other end and completely dug up a butternut and courgette in each of the corners looking for worms presumably.......the mesh is back now
I wish I knew a way of permanently deterring them.

A man with a gun.
Some people claim that human hair deters foxes,do you know a local hairdresser/barber.
Can't say I've tried this so I don't know if it works.
We did used to have Foxes visiting, mainly to pinch things off the lawn that the dogs left behind, food as well as toys, but for about 2 years now nothing.
The worst thing for us was the fox poo which the dogs loved to go and roll in given the chance, and it stinks awful.
I know there can be solutions but I bet they would be very temporary and expensive and they are so very numerous round here in the London 'burbs' a new one would just move straight in. It's probably illegal for me to trap or poison them......I guess. They are not the noble Reynard of 'The Shires' ours are nasty diseased and mangy.
Trapping is not illegal if you intend to release elsewhere, poisoning certainly is,although shooting is allowed as well.
Martingodliman, I was just wondering where you got the netting - is it widely available?
Thanks
I got it from Wyevale G/C pretty cheap I think.
Thanks. If that's a chain of garden centres, we don't have them here in Northern Ireland but I'll keep looking locally.
My son says the smell of human urine deters foxes - he keeps chickens. I'm not so sure anything deters them to be honest, the smell of a tasty chicken probably outweighs the smell of the urine. Can't use it everywhere of course.
