Help my Senshui onions have started to keel over with a white fungus on the bottoms of them Its a shame as were looking very healthy, any ideas and treatment if any?
this sounds like onion white rot
I am afraid if it is you have a serious problem.
if this has not been a problem before it must have come on the sets or waste from other onions.
I am afraid there is nothing you can do and it will not go away making all allium production impossible on that site
The disease is also spread by the movement of soil so disinfect all tools if using them elsewhere and beware of soil carried on your shoes
I agree with Farmer Steve-and it`s bad news.
We moved here 17 years ago and it was in the soil.
I am growing onions again after a small scale semi controled trial last year where they seemed to be clean.
Yeah this is true but its not for ever it takes 8 years for it to clear.Just do try and grow any onions or part of the family as they will just keep getting it.Some people try useing bleach in a watering can where the problem is dont know if this works.
