I had decided not to bother with tomatoes this year, but on an impulse bought a single Tumbling Tom at the Garden Centre. I don't have any hanging baskets at the moment, so was going to put it in a pot. I have a few empty at the moment, but was wondering how high off the ground (ie how tall!) the pot needs to be?
I guess I can stand it on something to keep it off the ground, in which case I'll need to use a wide stable pot rather than the taller narrower one I was thinking of.
So how long/low will it trail?
Well, once it reacher the ground it will just trail horizontally, so you don't need to raise it by a specific amount. I've grown them in raised beds, partly trailing over the edge (about 10 inches down) and partly spreading across the surface of the soil.
