Hi, I planted out my courgette plants a while ago (week ago?) and although they are not wilting, the leaves look paler somehow and they don't look all that happy.

I have been watering them and they had loads of rotted horse manure dug into their planting holes. Could this just be because of this very hot weather?

    Hi!

I'm by no means an expert, but it sounds to me that it could be Verticillium Wilt - it mainly affects young plants in cold, wet conditions.

It could be that you're overwatering them, and depending on what part of the country you're in, it might be worth chucking a layer of fleece over the top of them for a couple of weeks.

Best of luck smiley - smiley

Sorry about very belated reply! No/slow internet connection. Thanks for your reply. Not sure if it is verticillim as they are still hanging on in there. One has a flower forming and other buds. Maybe they will beef up later??

The pumpkin I planted a little later looks a lot healthier.

I am going to sow a couple more direct and see how they do.
