First year of our allotment and I've got a few plants now grown from seeds - PSB, red cabbage, sprouts and all seem to be doing OK but have very thin bases to the stalks - really weedy looking! When I plant them out (as soon as I've built the netting cages) should I plant them almost up to the first leaves so the really weedy bits are underground - the stalks do thicken up higher up? Any advice gratefully received.
Young plants look like that-nothing to worry about.
Plant deep and plant firm and all will be well
