The soil in my vegetable garden contains bits of grey, cinders-like, mushroom-smelling stuff just below the surface. It sounds like something that was disuccsed on GQT a few weeks ago - fire fungus? Has anyone experienced this? Or know what to do about it? I garden organically so would prefer a non-chemical solution (if there is any solution).

    Thanks for any advice.

GQT on 30 April discussed this and said this fungus would not attack plants, and the only problem it's likely to cause is slowing moisture getting to the roots as it's inclined to be moisture repellant.
