I've just received an email from
www.blightwatch.co.uk
warning me that there has been a full Smith Period in my local area, so blight is possible. Wasn't prepared for this so early in the season, but I have been out with the Bordeaux Mixture.
If you're not yet familiar with the blightwatch website it's a handy site to sign up to as it gives you prompt warnings of any liklihood of a blight attack.
Yes I have had the warning as well, totally unexpected and of course unprepared.
I have lost maincrop to blight for the past two seasons,if it happens again this year it will be time to give up with then and just grow earlies.
How do you both feel about the GM crop of potatoes being planted in Norfolk to test for blight resistance?????
Opens a big can of worms...........
Personally It doesn't bother me all this GM thing,I have heard that the world would be in serious trouble growing Soya Beans without GM being introduced.
