Hi wondering if anyone can help me. I am growing swiss chard and the leaves appear to be dying. They are going brown and then crispy and die. It almost looks like bleach has been poured on them. Can anyone help as to what might be causing this problem. Thanks
Ian
To be honest -I have no idea.
But at least it`s not too late to sow some more
Assuming it is not due to under-watering, I am not sure either but if you can give more details about how you are growing it maybe someone else can help.
Are you growing it in the ground or in a pot?
What compost/soil/manure are you using? There was a post on here recently about contaminated manure.
Are any other crops growing in the same conditions doing ok?
thanks for the replys. The chard is growing in a raised bed I have cabbage in the other half of the bed which is a top soil and compost mix. The cabbage is growing really well with no signs of problems so not sure what the problem is.
Hi
this is an interesting issue for me as I am growing Swiss Chard for the 1st this year and I have the same sort of issue, so it would be great if anyone has any ideas - I also have raised bed soil / compost mix - Courgette going well in the other half.
Do the leaves get blotches on them first? It could be leaf miner. Easy way to tell is looking on the underside of the leaves - there are often a few clutches of very tiny white eggs.
