I've just got back from being away for two weeks and my tomato 100s & 1000s look nothing like they did last year. No tomatoes yet but all the flower buds are coming from between the main stem and a leaf. Shouldn't they come from along a branch?
I dunno the whole plant just looks different like a single stem variety just left to go it's own way rather than any kinda bush, and trying to grow upwards in a perky way leaves bigger........hmmmmm I'l have to wait till it fruits to be sure.
Just thought I would give this a resurrection in case anyone had any idea about what I'm on about.
It was reffered to in a previous thread some time ago about their very upright looking 100s & 1000s plants.
Hi martin, it was me that asked about the 100s & 1000s. Mine are in hanging baskets, and one seems to have started to "hang", but it doesn't look like the tumbling ones I did last year, and as you say the flowers are coming off the main stem. I will try and dip into the GH this afternoon and take a photo - back later.

Thanks for replying Gem they are definitely different from last year, I gave some to friend who also grew them last year and agrees with me, this years plants look wrong. I'll wring Suttons and see what they say.
Just spoke to Suttons they confessed !
Apparently it's a problem with their supplier to them further back down the line ! and they are the cordon type.
There own seed they grow to sell the plants had the same problem. They were contrite and offered the money back.....I refused it what use is that.
Hmmm, that sounds like rather bad customer service, not to mention breaking the trade description act.
I have some 100's and 1000's that i've grown from seed that I bought last year. They were looking like they were about to die at one point so I bought some live plants from Suttons as well. In the end mine perked up so now I have loads of them but as i've not grown them before I have no idea what they should look like!
At the moment they look very similar to my "Garden Pearl" which are a bush variety. Does anyone have a picture of what they are supposed to look like when they are still fairly small, i'd be very interested!
If you Google it there are plenty of illustrations of the plant and mine look nothing like it.
Yeah I tried googleing it and all i've seen are the pics of the full grown trailing plants. Mine look nothing like that at the moment but I wasn't sure what they might look like when they are a lot smaller. I have to say I would have expected them to be a bit more trailing by now, they are very upright still.
If your seeds were Suttons Mithranstar they are not 100s & 1000s, I don't know if any other supplier did get it right.
Martin by mistake I bought Sweet Million thinking they were are trailing plant like 100s/1000s. Somewhat alarmed when my seedlings grew at a rapid rate I googled to find these are a tall cordon plant with fruits similiar to 100s/1000s. Is this maybe what you have? If so staked mine are doing great lots of flowers/ fruit but my tallest one is around 4.5 ft and the rest not far behind

That was going to be my next question Liketocook how to treat them now ?
Trouble is Suttons don't know what they are either, probably they are some kind of small cherry type tomato judging by the tiny sized seeds when I sowed them.
It seems they are so far gone with side shoots now it would be harsh treatment to strip them all out and attempt to grow them as cordons.
I don't know what's best, probably I'll do some like that and leave others and see what happens.
They certainly are vigourous looking to be growing in pots.
Hi Martin
I'd still strip most of the side shoots - you can always start these as separate plants if you wish. Does sound like some sort of cherry type tomato - I've got a few cordon varieties of these gardeners delight, bejinbo, outdoor girl and yellow pear as well as the sweet million.(we like our tomatoes!!!) I grew yellow pear last year and grew a few of these successfully as a restricted cordon - I nipped of the top once they got to about 2.5 ft and let most of the side shoots grow on ( I was running out of space and they were getting too tall for my greenhouse shelf). The crop from the restricted ones wasn't quite as good as the others but there was not a huge amount in it so always worth a try.
Good luck

And for anyone growing `Sweet Million`-save your seeds as although it`s classed as an F1 Hybrid it`s not as such and will come true.
And despite other F1 cherry types coming onto the market it`s still one of the best
Hi Martin
As promised photos of mine, looks like they have **£*$*!* up !!, question is what to do now.

Bother-I tried to put the picture up for you. It does look a bit scrawny . I would stop some of those trailing stems after the first/second truss and try to establish the central ones
