I pulled my first 2 beetroots last night, and a few radish. The radish have a few holes on them but what the heck

If they are not good enough for the bugs to eat they are not good enough for us!
That is so satisfying isn't it? There is just nothing as good as your own fruit and veggies, those beets look good I must say. Beetroot are one of my all time favs. Go on enjoying.
what variety of beetroot is it and when did you sow it?
They do look good. Hope mine fair well I've only just sown beetroot and radish.
Thanks for all your nice comments, they beetroots were lovely roasted with butternut squash/onions and courgettes.
I started the seeds of in modules in March in the greenhouse and planted them out at the end of April, I used suttons boltardy.

ok thank you i was just thinking boltardy is the one off the digin site and i have sown them aswell
I started on a new allotment 3 months ago, is it true that beetroot does not need a lot of water, its been very dry here no water on the allotment yet, so watering has been difficult to say the least. The beetroot looks ready to pull, other peoples have grown tall lush leaves with very small beetroots have they been over watered?
Mine look as if they are all tops and no bottoms as well. They are in the centre of my small plot so the lot gets the same watering as the peas etc. I wondered what I've done wrong.
