Hello To All
Athough fairly experienced in veggie growing would like to ask you for your thoughts on budding/flowering carrots.
This has never happened to me before and think I should nip them off.
Has this happened to anyone else and is it due the
long period of hot weather.??
Some of my shallots are also flowering and have removed these.
As always your thoughts/advise on this matter greatly appreciated.
Happy Gardening.
Yes, uit's down to the hot, dry weather. take the buds off and test one carrot to make sure it's not gone woody.
I had the same problem with radishes, they flowered and when I pulled them up they were like bullets so we couldn't eat them. I did have huge tops on them. Did I feed too much?
you left them far too long
all root crops will be past there best if thye run to flower
the best thing is to remove all the flowering ones and let the rest grow on
It may be lack of moisture is causing them to bolt or the cold spring weather
