Been away for 2 weeks and was clearing the cherry tree leaves of blackfly (thousands) when noticed a grub about the size of a fingernail, black with a red mark down each side. Anyone have any idea what this could be?
Could it be a ladybird grub? If so - good. Google, or reference book should help.
It does sound like a lady bird grub to me as well-friend for sure
Thank you both. Now that I have something to Google I can confirm that it is a harlequin ladybird - many thanks
If it is a harlequin ladybird it should unfortunately be killed as they eat our native ladybirds and are a foreign pest. Sorry.
let the accused be brought forward between 12 ladies and gentlemen of worthy character before judgement
