I have just bought 2 grafted Aubergines in the GC because they were reduced to 50p each. They are Suttons "Turbo plants", a variety called Scorpio. I now must confess that I know nothing about how to grow them? Do they need pinching etc like tomatoes?

I assume I feed them with tomato food?

Also I got 4 grafted tomato plants too, reduced to 20p each. Again the turbo plants, varieties called Dasher and Conchita. Has anyone grown grafted plants before? Do they need any special attention and are they as "super" as they claim to be?

Any help would be fab! Many Thanks smiley - smiley

Hi there, I'm not actually going to be much help to you here, I posted a Q about this a few weeks ago, as I had bought - at enormous expense at the time - a turbo tomato and wondered if anyone else had as well. I think they have only been available to us gardeners this year, prior to that they were only for commercial use as far as I can make out.

Anyway, I am growing my tomato with all the more ordinary tomatoes, in the greenhouse, treating it just he same as the ususal ones. So far it looks little different, flowers in much the same quantity as the others, it is a bit taller and maybe a bit more solid looking but that is all for now. Let us see ..........

It said on the label "70% more crop" That's quite a claim!? and I know what you mean about the expense, they were reduced from £3.98 the ones I got. My way of looking at that is, you can buy a lot of tomatoes from the supermarket for £3.98! At 20p it was lessof a gamble. I'll use it as an experiment this year smiley - smiley

Anybody know how to look after Aubergines? I'm still stumped on that!

The 1st of the last pictures here is my experiment with "turbo" plant, WOW, that is just 1 plant & it has taken over a third of the back wall of the green house, so far very impressed.

I grew an Aubergine plant last year & just let it to it, fed it once a week & supported it as needed, no problems.

    Wowee Purpleluv,

It's incredible? Did you pinch out the side shoots on it. I'm suitably impressed!

Being bargain bin remnants, mine look a bit peeky at the moment but after seeing that I'm hoping they pick up!

    Congrats! smiley - smiley
