My mum has set her radish seeds as normal but this year they are growing tops about 12"/18" tall & going to flower & the radish are very small when she lifts them.
Any ideas ??
They've "bolted" meaning they've gone to seed, producing flower heads. It happens when it's too dry.
Chuck them out and try again. Although I wouldn't recommend it at the moment unless you have a shady spot that she can keep well watered. It's just too hot and dry at this time of year.
Many Thanks. I will pass on the info.
Mine are doing very well, onto my 3rd crop this yr but I water them 2/3 times a day in this weather.
Half of mine have gone to flower the rest were lovely and big very fiery though they had a kick joanne x
It`s lack of water as said. But the flowers and seed pods are edible.
I didn't know that Smilingcat, Thanks
I've yet to throw mine on the compost so I'll leave them in a little longer now.
