peas, dwarf beans

  iv noticed that i have some pea pods on me allotment. i had previous comments that i need to feel them and see if they have peas i. they feel like they have peas in them. the size of the pea pos are 2/3 inches long. do they grow much more than this?
  
  i have dwarf bean plants, i got plastic round them as the birds were starting to eat them. is it ok now to move to the plastic? will the birds still eat them? our runner beans are looking well good and we will be picking this week the birds have not been eating them.
