Just lifted my crop of shallots and they are a really good size, much better than my poor onions which can only be described as pathetic! I used a different supplier this year for my onion sets as did my sister in law. Her crop of onions is the same as mine so I am wondering if the onion sets were poor stock. Back to my usual supplier next year.
There is a moral there somewhere-but we all try someone/something new from time to time.
Good to hear the shallots were fine though, I too, had a very good crop-the first year for a very long time while waiting for the white rot to go.
What variety of shallots have you grown? I've just dug up my first Jermor shallots and they have done really well. I'm so pleased with them especially as I thought they weren't going to be any good as the leaves started bending well over a month ago.
