What a lovely pumpkin. When did you plant it? I love roast pumpkin and am looking forward to when mine are ready.
Thankyou KG, its a summer pumpkin called Golden Ball. I started 2 of in the greenhouse at the end of March with the courgettes, and planted it out on the 20th of May. Like the courgettes it had male flowers first then this one . I have loads more coming on both plants, will have another for dinner at the end of the week, they only get to about 2lbs in weight so are just right for one meal. I am going to cut this next one in half and stuff the inside and bake - watch this space !.

Congratulations! My pumpkins keep having loads of male flowers but very few female. I've got two growing pumpkins but I really wanted more. I found another female flower bud this evening and carefully cut the leaves away from around it to make it more visible to the bees.
If it wasn't for the size I would have said it was a courgette from the leaves.
Do they produce both type of flowers on the same plant or is it one gender only?
