Does anyone have ideas for veg that would grow well on a windswept south-facing slope looking out to sea (on granite base, usually mild climate)? I know about sea kale but seek others. Thanks.
Some of the old guard apply salt to there asparagus bed, meaning it grows naturally by the coast. Really it is worth having ago at a broad range of vegetables, the wind will be a disadvantage but, in the same breath so to speak, it will protect too, such as carrots - the pests being blown away.
Thanks, Hereisabee, asparagus sounds great. I've remembered that the wild plant Sea Beet grows by the shore, so I guess spinach, beetroot and chard might do well too. Good buzzing to you!

From my recollection of the cliff walk around Polperro, there are allotment areas on the cliff face. I know they were growing runner beans there so this might be ab option for you.
That's a good suggestion, thanks GCG. I live a couple of miles inland from the friend who asked for info on seaside veg, and sometimes my runner beans have a job to stay upright in the wind even here! But I will look into the dwarf types, as there is little shelter at her place. Thanks again. Pinxit
