Does anyone else have fruit and veg which has grown into odd shapes.
My peppers last year were just quite frankly odd. They weren't as big as the ones in the shops and some were sucked in in the middle, they'd turned red before I plucked up the courage to eat them this year they are looking as I would expect.
I've one or two mutated tomartoes this year. One is looking like two toms stuck together another has a long protruding bit coming out of the side
And I had some really weird looking strawberries although they were delis.
... 3 min rule. My chillies aren't looking like chillies though they look remarkably like peppersd
I think this quite often is so, we get false ideas of what real fruit & veg. should look like, given that the supermarkets only accept things that will exactly fit their plastic boxes and blown trays!! Tomatoes together are possibly just that, two which fused, or possibly 'siamese' twins, either way they will taste fine.
When we used to shop in the markets of Zambia we soon realised how artificial it is to have fruits and veggies all looking the same. Peppers can be any shape they like, and if empty of other eaters are perfectly fine. Ditto tomatoes, cucumbers and so on.
Think it si nice to have real food, no matter what it looks like, as it tastes so fresh and good - keep going, it's all wonderful food.
I had a rather rude shaped strawberry , a siamese tomato that my OH said looked like my bum and two carrots that had grown twisted together...we called them love carrots...they looked like they were giving each other a hug!
Kids love the weird ones. They have that novelty value
Some of my carrots look like they've got arms and we had a "siamese" potato and potatoes with "topknots". Does that mean that a new potato sometimes grows from another one?
Here's a site I found after I'd googled for odd shaped veg...
'Images for odd shaped vegetables'
my french beans are being very curly this year
