Yet another great year so far, and i'm expecting better still smiley - biggrin Great crops of new potatoes, carrots, peas, runner beans, garlic, radishies, onions, bunching onions, a variety of salad leaves, sorrel, rocket, pak choi etc.. Bumper crop of blackcurants, with rhubarb, gooseberries, strawberries, and raspberries not far behind. My gherkins and ridge cucumbers are looking very good, sweetcorn could be my best ever crop, swede and sprouting broccoli growing nicely. First time i'm trying peppers, and chili peppers, and they are setting with some of the chillies nearly ready. Finally my pepinos are now setting, so i can now look forward to tasteing those unusual fruit, which you can make a great tasteing chutney out of them.

Well done you on your bumper crops. I'm guessing this year has been better than the previous 3 years for growing. I was cursing the cold weather at the start of the year but think it has turned out to be ok, despite all the watering!

I'm hoping to grow a bigger variety of crops next year and do more succession sowing of the stuff we eat a lot. Want to try sweet corn too as we all love that.

same here dirty! our first year is brilliant, we have bought a vacuum sealer to make the freezing side better, we and our neighbours have never eaten so much veg, we are up to 3 main meals a week with no meat.

I agree. This year has been fantastic for all the soft fruit apart from early raspberries. The fruit trees are also full of apples plums greengages and figs. The pots have been late but still good and the beans courgettes cues and peas have all been great. The cherry tree has had the largest dark cherries ever and its not finished yet. At last loads of tomatoes without blight. Fingers crossed.
