if strawberries produce seedy fruits why do they also produce runners?
Runners are 'clones' of the parent. Exact replicas. Seeds can be the result of cross-breeding; there will be variation in the offspring. Some good offspring, some not so good and some useless. The plant is hedging its bets. There are lots of plants that do this. Bulbs for example. Raspberries. Cuttings are clones. Seeds can be hit or miss.
