I've just been offered a 6x8 greenhouse which is minus the glass panes...would anyone know how expensive it would be to buy the glass. Thanks in advance
Also check out plexiglas, plastic glass for greenhouses. Shop around online as it can be pricey.
Try B & Q have glass you can buy in packs also amazon is great!!
hi you may find it cheaper to buy a new greenhouse,my neighbour has just got one for £150,its the odd shapes of glass that will cost you,
We built a small one & costed out polycarbonate, & various types of glass.
Horticultural glass was surprisingly cheap.
We measured it all up & rang a couple of glass shops who quoted when we emailed them all the sizes.
Just looked on B & Q site. £110. 8 x 6 horticultural glass.
thank you very much...I haven't even seen the greenhouse yet so i should look first to find out exact measurements etc., lol
Try your local freecycle I managed to get 40 pain on my local 1 more then I need so kept the rest for brakes as where my lotty is they play golf now and then.
B and Q often do discounts on bank holidays of 15% to 20% and if you shop around glass can be cut fairly cheaply they charge per cut, I've had glass cut for 50p per cut.
Most GH's are a standard width between the metal posts which you slot the glass into, measure this before you go shopping for glass. B and Q glass for the 8 by 6 is standard width. It's likely the triangular glass fitted at the ends, over the door etc...won't fit your prospective GH though unless it was originally bought from B and Q.
I envy you.
I long for the day when I get offered a greenhouse. Currently trying to grow in a 25quid plastic tent type with ok results to be honest, but quickly realizing that it will only do a season.... Tears everywhere! Grrrr
Happy hunting and hope it gives you years and years of joy
try local glazier but would recommend toughened glass a little more cost but well worth it some say poly can blow out in wind
been to look at the Greenhouse and its too big
our friend had got the measurements wrong and apparently it still had most of the glass..oh well never mind i'll just have to keep looking.
thanks for all your replies tho

Have you tried Norfolk Greenhouses? Google them, I have just bought a 6x4 for £120 with free staging. Mind you it's not put up yet, am waiting for the brother-in-law to oblige!
