All my calabrese look healthy and leafy, but none have any green flower heads so I have nothing to harvest! Does anyone know why this is? I used some chicken manure when I sowed them, and one feed of seaweed fertliser a few weeks ago, so I don't think they've had too much nitrogen which I know promotes leafy growth. I grew the same type last year and they were fine. Any advice welcome. Thanks.
Look on the seed packet which will give some indication of when it will be ready. Lots of feeding will not prevent it forming heads. But I don't think feeding is necessary when you sow, leave that until they are growing well. Patience is required.
It can take at least 4-5 months sometimes to form heads, all depends on the variety and weather. Don't worry they will come sometime.
