Hi, does anyone grow globe artichokes? How do you prepare and cook them?

We like to eat them as follows ( but friends have found it fiddly and unsatisfying!):
Clean them well, cut off any sharp tips and slice off the stem, plunge in boiling water with a squeeze of lemon juice and simmer base-down for about 30 mins (depending on size). When cooked a leaf should pull off fairly easily. Eat with seasoned lemon butter; pull off a leaf at a time and dip in the butter then nibble off the soft end. When you reach the hairy centre take it off carefully and discard - don't try to eat it! You will then be left with the best part, the base.

Cellarina you forgot to mention the big bowl to put all the scraped bracts in! I admit they are a bit of a fiddle, but the effort is so worthwhile.
A good italian cook book would be the place to look for more methods of preparing them.
