I've been reading about rotation of veg. beds i.e. roots /brasicas/ legumes etc. to prevent disease, but does this apply to a runner bean trench or can I re-use it each year. Thanks.
it is traditional to re use runner bean trenches
Probably because they are a foreign import with no close european relative they do not suffer as far as I am aware from any soil borne disease
Have been using the same raised bed for runner beans for over ten years. No obvious problems and great crop of beans.

The RHS does mention two diseases that can stay on in the soil,
a rust and a fungus:
They are probably not that common, but something to be watched out for.
