One of my allotment neighbour's has a 'Denniston's Superb' plum tree, ( I read the label), although I could only see one plum. Has anyone had success with this variety, as I am considering grafting it onto a (plum) sucker we have at home?

I did a search and came up with this information:-
Denniston's Superb.
A great tasting gage, Denniston's Superb is amongst the best as far as eating plums go.
The pale green skin is tinged with a red flush.
It reliably produces a good crop of plums in late summer.
Self fertile.
It sounds as if you could be on to a winner!
Thanks, although the tree at the plot is about 3m tall and only has about 4 fruits.

In that case it would appear to be only a young tree.
If you have not had a plum tree before, read up on pruning because, unlike apple and pear trees, they are not pruned in the winter.
I bought one and am training it espalier so that I can reach the fruit and also because it is easier to spray.
Good Luck!
gages are notorious for poor and irregular cropping
which is a pity as they are the very best tasting of the plum family
'Czar' is a wonderful Plum for eating, very sweet and in my opinion better than 'Victoria'although not as heavy a crop.
Plums also have a tendency to rest a year following a heavy crop the previous year, and can take up to 5 years before really producing, many experts advise removing any fruit as they form, for the first 2 years so the tree can put it's energy in making a good root system.
