I've grown Ailsa Craig tomatoes in my greenhouse for years, and the past couple of summers have produced very poor results. The summers have been too damp, too cool and/or too dull. The result was a crop of green toms which refused to ripen until September (planted early May).
So this year I changed to Sweet Olive from Suttons and the crop has been fantastic. There is little sign of disease and the crop has been ready since mid July.
Definately a tasty little tomato! Has anyone else tried this variety?
I plant Ailsa Craig every year in my greenhouse and have very consistent results. Always very heavy cropping and good size. I have been picking now for a couple of weeks and probably another 2 or 3 to go but yes I agree they take till late August / September. Maybe best to try couple of different varieties as you have but I would certainly not put anyone off Ailsa Craig.
I tried sweet olive, and I loved it; however I also tried 'rosada' and they were even better, I was converted!

What size is Rosada? I do NOT grow cherry size Toms. At present, the best flavoured Tom I grow is Goumet - Suttons.
