I have a load of fresh horse manure given me is it allright to spread it straight on the plot until next spring or should I rot it down and for how long
I usually dig down and throw the manure in and throw the soil back on top of it.I then cover it with black sheeting and let the worms do their thing.
Fresh horse muck is very rich in nutrients which isn't suited for most veg.
I've pinged up the compost thread, if you post your Q on there I'm sure some one will be able to give you further advise.

If you have a compost heap or bins, I would put it there.
It will not be long before you are raking up leaves. If you put layers of leaves and layers of horse manure, you will have some good compost in about six months.
