Can these be grown outdoors in the Southwest of the UK. I have started eating tons of them and would like to try to grow them too.
I think you are unlikely to be succesfulthe normal melon is difficult outside and unlikely to crop every season watermelons like a long hot season so I think you will be disappointed but then if you are in a very sheltered spot and you have the space give it a go.
I have just harvested 2 and more growing of a variety called "Outdoor Wonder" and bery tasty they were too!!

If you have a warm sheltered spot then yes,but be prepared for failure as well.
The variety `small shining light` was recommended by `which` I think.
I have never tried them outdoors though so it`s a case of try and see?

Outdoor Wonder looks more like a canteloupe or honeydew melon to me, not a water melon.
All the same thanks for the tip, will give this a try next year.
