The site was given a load of horese manure. It's quite well rotted, but still pockets of straw and rathr fibrous. Is it ready to use do you think? or shoud we wait until next year?

If you are going to spread it on empty beds as a mulch it should be o.k by next year. Otherwise keep it away from any crops if it is still fresh it will burn the crops.

When it no longer smells of manure it should be ready. You can spread it thickly on vacant land now and it will be ready to dig in over the winter, or let the worms do it for you.
