I have been moaning all season that a row of Swiss chard that I had planted had not done well and did not look like something I wanted to eat, so yesterday when clearing out the bed I decided to pull the chard up only to discover that it was beetroot, I felt like a right twit smiley - laugh
One of the other lotties put up canes for his climbing beans only to discover that they were dwarf beans.
Has anyone else made any planting mistakes during this, season? If so what.

Well, maybe not exactly a mistake, but I planted some kohlrabi from Seeds of Italy. You know you're supposed to pick it when it's about tennis-ball size or smaller. When mine were that size they were clearly not ready to pick, but they grew like triffids, overtook my entire brassica plot and are now the size of small footballs. They taste very good and aren't at all woody, but I have tons and tons of them and don't know what to do with them all. Next year I think I'll go back to British varieties

Back in March I came home to all my chilli and peppers plants mixed up and knocked off the window ledge by the cat. I'd sown about five different varieties of each but didn't know which variety was which.

There were at least 6 plants for each of the chilli and pepper varietiessmiley - doh They were all ready to plant out too and no time to sow any more.

Over the summer the plants grew really well and I've had a really good crop but you can get chilles which are round like peppers and peppers which are long and thin like chillies.

I've had some of the hottest salads known to man which would blow your socks off, what I thought were peppers have been really hot and what I thought were chillies have been bland and tastless in hot dishes.

I've worked out which are which nowsmiley - biggrin
