I have cleared out the greenhouse of all plants and before I put the salads etc in for overwintering I was thinking of using a Sulphur Candle.

Do you need to bring EVERYTHING out of the greenhouse (tools, a million pots, seedtrays etc.) or just the plants?

I'm a bit of a hoarder and don't fancy moving everything out...it'll take forever! smiley - laugh

    Many Thanks!

I only clear out living things - bulbs, seeds and plants. What I have noticed is the the aluminium staging gets stained and a bit powderey to touch. If you have stainless steel tools it might be worth removing them. Pots etc do not seem affected

Personaly I`m not keen on using anything that kills beneficial insects-but that`s up to you.

What I woud suggest is that you check everywhere for residual slugs and snais before setting out any salad crops though

Thanks Muddyfork. My greenhouse is wooden so hopefully it should be ok.

Smilingcat, I hadn't thought about that? I'm all about organic gardening. We have logpiles, bee hotels etc. I hadn't considered killing off the good guys smiley - smiley

I get plagued with Red Spider mites and year after year they obliterate my greenhouse crops to the point where I got a better crop this year from the outdoor tomatoes and I live in Inverness!

This was a last ditch attempt as the little blighters seem to defeat all gardeners. I have soaked and bleached. Perhaps I'll just have to invest in some predatory mites next summer!

    Many Thanks smiley - smiley
