Have sown peppers is there anything else you can sow in Autumn Thanks
Hi,you can try broad beans-Aquadulce also Japanese onion sets. I grew both last year and they did really well. Beans will need mesh on otherwise pigeons will get them!
Garlic
Peppers? I missed that, I didn't know you could sow pepper seeds now for next year.
Anything special needed?

I sowed my peppers sept last year and end of august or sept this year too. I've potted mine on already and they're strong and healthy. They overwinter inside on a windowsil where they can get as much light as possible. I don't have a heated greenhouse.
It's a good idea here in the UK because otherwise the plants are just starting to mature when the season is almost over and the peppers don't often reach their full potential.
Seeds into seed compost, potted on after 4-6 leaves into a mix of seed compost and multi purpose. Good luck.

See other thread about autumn sown carrots. Seems they do very well. I've sown some and they're germinated already. They're a particular type. Worth a go.
There could be onion sets around to sow now too. There's always salad leaves for cut and come again if you can give them some protection. Did I hear somewhere you sow onions in late autumn?
shallots.
peas
Fenugreek for a late crop or for overwintering. (or any of the other green manures, if you just want to keep the soil weed-free). Rocket, winter spinach, chard, mooli radish, a late turnip, mizuna - I'm still sowing these and they are germinating outside. (NW England).Jerusalem artichokes can go in any time from now. I think we've already mentioned garlic and onions. Now's also good time for planting soft fruit, top fruit, and hardy herbs.

Thanks everyone
Maybe I should lift my peppers. I had some that I got as a freebie when I bought some seeds. They look a bit rough now as they have been nibbled to an early grave by the slugs
I think you still can plant muzina and pak choy.
Spinach and spring onion seed can be planted now too. I planted both a couple of weeks ago, also onions, garlic and turnip. Onions, turnip, spinach and spring onions have sprouted. only the garlic has yet to produce signs of life.
Shoots have just appeared from the garden pea seeds I planted a couple of weeks ago. Not too many losses to mice (which will dig em up so take precautions). The slug tape is doing a grand job. I have replaced the cloches with a net to keep animals away. I don't want too much growth because smaller seedlings are apparently better at over-wintering.
The sweet pea seedlings are doing well too. They are in a cold-frame...
