I have pruned back my summer fruiting raspberries as advised in all my gardening books and various websites. I have tied in a few canes from this year but now have lots of new shoots coming through and am not sure what to do with them. Do I leave them on for next year or cut them off before they get too big and take over the garden?? Most grateful for any advice!!
Those are next years raspberry canes. When they have grown up a bit you can remove the weakest of them but, take care, do not prune out too many. Ensure you cut out all the canes that have fruited this year.
