    Hi all,
Well it's sunday the 5th of december and the times flying by before you know it it'll be christmas and the T.V will be showing us the seasonal programs like the great escape & zulu.

So having said this i thought i'd give you something better to think about and it's this,

Are you the sort of person that buys ready made food to eat in the shops ?
And are you the sort that thinks home made christmas dinner is better much better???

    Yes me too,
in my mind home made is better because it has what the cook has put in it and not what you'll hope the info on the label says is in it is really there.

The same thing goes for compost, It's all very well going to buy the garden centre ready made stuff, but if you read whats in the bag you've just spent a fortune on and you find out just whats best for your plants /shrubs etc you'll soon understand that you can make a really good compost with the correct feeds etc by you buying the basic individual items from the very same garden centre and mixing your own.

Even your home made compost can be even better for the adding of some individual items, ie fish/blood & bone, or potash the list of additives is amazing and all in the garden centre for you to see.

I did do a thread the other day and i said "We gardeners have never had it so good!"
And i ment it, i made a few remarks as examples ref machine's we now use as a common thing but ive one i'd like to point out that has come along is excellent for the making of compost and it's really cheap for all it can do and the years it will last if treated correctly and it's the common cement mixer,

Ive an small one that works off electric and i use it just for the garden compost mixing, and the results are to be seen, if i feel i want a sandy mix with grit and a dry feed for the likes of carrot then its done in no time and a good even mix.

I use my own home made compost a lot but for the greenhouse i buy vacummed packed "clean compost" and add verious items to enrich it for the use i feel i need.

This is just an idea for future use in the garden and one that wont cost the earth,

(and it's nearly christmas time,,??????) and if you live in a huge house ? it may fit down the chimney.
