Looking to growing cucumbers for the first time next year. Any advice as to the best flavoured and high cropping varieties.
Hi Garvey,
I haven't grown cucumbers for a couple of years. But my favourite was always marketmore. Never bitter and always a heavy cropper.
Indoors (greenhouse) or outdoors?
We have never said "Oh my, we've used all the cuc's". They just keep cropping, I shouldn't worry about running out. Two plants will do for a family. Cheers, Tony.

I like Konsa and bought the seeds from Lidl. They are shorter than the ones you get from the greengrocer but have a really lovely taste. They're good croppers and I've even made cucumber soup with the surplus.
I have grown the Tasty Burpless for the last 2 years, this Summer I was force feeding them to the neighbours as we had so many. Nan x
I've had good results in the greenhouse for several years with Diana F1 from King's seeds. Very vigorous. Heavy cropper. Lovely cucumbers.
I planted "Diva" this year. Heavy cropper and delicious. They grow to about 8 inches and are a perfect 1 portion size.

Hello PJ. Please could you tell me whether you were growing "Diva" outside or under glass? I tried them in my little greenhouse last year and they did not do well for me, but I might try again. I usually grow "Marketmore" outside and like them a lot, but my spouse wanted a change. Thanks.
Socrates is an improved form of Petita and is very productive in the GH. The cucumbers are about 8" and everyone who tastes them scores them very highly.

Hi go to realseeds.co.uk they only supply seed for outdoor cucumbers. Better tating. Try Tamara, I planted 3 plants after hardening off, in Ikea waste paper bins with a good amount of rotted and half rotted manure and never had less than 6 cucumbers a week when they got going. Must water every day with loads. Hope this helps. Richard
Good morning Garvey, a well known cook suggested that you cut a cuc' in half leavng the upper half still on the plant to carry on growing rather than have it go all soft in the fridge. I Meant to give it a go last year, but always forgot! Cheers, Tony.
I watched the same programme Tony.
The bottom aparently seals itself to carry on growing.
TB did the same thing on GW last year.
