Does anyone have a view on the best time to take a holiday but not miss anything on the allotment. I do need a little sun/sand/relaxation every year, but never seem to time it right and always miss out on something on the lottie or have to lean heavily on one of my kids to do the necessary watering tending etc. wiht varying results! I would like to go sometime between the beginning of May and the end of September.

Winter is best for holidaying, but not Tunisia.

That is what sprogs were brought into this world to do, look after your veggies. That and buy you Wurther's originals! (or in my case - sugared almonds). Cheers, Tony.

ooh sugared almonds - my favourites. I also rely on them to feed the chickens and look after the rabbit! I do feel I deserve a bit of sunshine 'though.

I mostly go second week in sept, to a village in Cornwall (mullion) it just great , with the schools gone back ,the village not to busy and the cornish pepole are so friendly, I go self catering with jem holidays because you can still buy veg at the side of the road (by putting money in a honest box) how great is that and you still can get your 5 aday, and in sept you don,'t miss much from your own garden.

I think if I could escape it would be right now for skiing in the Alps or sailing in the Caribbean or mooching around the gardens of Madeira. Just about any time between March and October is no good for a gardener, although I do get a little jaded in mid August, so don't mind going away then. For a few hours.
